Security Update for Windows
On July 16th, 2003, Microsoft released a critical security bulletin and patch regarding a vulnerability of the following operating systems:
- Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
- Microsoft Windows 2000
- Microsoft Windows XP
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003

If you use one of the Windows operating systems listed above, you should update your computer at your earliest convenience. Microsoft has acknowledged that the vulnerability will be exploited by malicious programs in the near future. Just one computer compromised by this vulnerability on the UK Network could cause problems for the entire network.
If you have administrator privileges to your computer, you can update your Windows operating system:
- Open the Internet Explorer web browser application, and go to the Windows Update web site (www.windowsupdate.com).
- As the Windows Update web site opens, install any software plug-ins necessary by the site.
- Click on the Scan for updates link. Any critical updates that your computer lacks will be selected, including the update that will resolve this vulnerability.
- Click on the Review and Install Update link.
- Click on the Install button to start installing the updates.
