Neighborhoods near UK feature many inviting homes, yards and public spaces.

UNAC, the University of Kentucky's Neighborhood Advisory Council, focuses its attention on the impact of the University (UK) on the neighborhoods near it. UNAC serves as an intermediary body between UK and its near neighbors to assist in the development and implementation of plans for mutual benefit. UNAC contributes to improved quality of life in neighborhoods near the University by involving University decision-makers and neighbors in conversations that yield action, aligning problem-solving techniques to address issues. In all efforts to address the needs of the University and its surrounding neighborhoods, UNAC encourages transparency in order to build mutual respect and trust.

UNAC develops and tracks recommendations about ways to make progress on the set of issues that have been at the heart of discussions about and among the near neighborhoods for years. At present, UNAC has narrowed its focus to issues of housing and related physical improvements, the creation of a process for effective communication with neighbors on UNAC activities, and ways to identify and measure change related to UNAC activities.
