Prospective Students Choosing a college major is an important decision. Making the right choice will save you both time and money and will increase your chances of ending up in a job you'll enjoy. But, choosing a major is NOT a life choice. It is a process that requires active participation by the student. Before you arrive on campus, one thing you can do is go to the web and review some jobs in the Occupational Outlook Handbook compiled by the U.S. Department of Labor. Our Advising Team will help you gain the information you need to make an appropriate choice: 1. What interests you 2. Your talents 3. Your values 4. How to match these with a career These will be done through monthly conversations with your academic advisor, completing an interest inventory or assessment, and connections with the UK Stuckert Career Center. It is a process that takes time and exploration but once you choose a major you will be more invested in that field for having been a US student. And if you are not an Undergraduate Studies student, you can still receive assistance with unique advising problems. Maybe you are unsure about your major, have experienced academic difficulty, or need guidance through your journey. If you have less than 60 hours, you can change your major to Undergraduate Studies and begin the exploration process today!
