The University of Kentucky goal for the 2007 Campaign is $400,000.00.
We are confident that with your support we will exceed the outstanding generosity of the 2006 Campaign which raised $322,150.00. Dear Colleagues:
Welcome to the 2007 University of Kentucky United Way Campaign!
UK employees' generous support for the United Way makes all the difference in the world to thousands of our fellow Kentuckians. Through the United Way, our donations go directly toward improving early childhood development, supporting families recovering from disaster or domestic violence, and providing food and shelter for those in need, just to name a few initiatives. And because our support goes directly to the communities where our families live and work, employees can see the impact of their support 'close to home.' I call on my fellow employees to give generously this year. Our annual United Way campaign appeals to our personal generosity, while also inspiring a sense of teamwork in helping UK play a vital role in improving the quality of life throughout the Commonwealth.
As a United Way board member, I've seen just how much the programs in our community depend on our contributions. With that in mind, during this year’s campaign we’ll reach out more than ever to let employees know how much their support matters. Each unit and area has designated representatives who will personally represent the United Way and accept donations on their behalf. My work as Chair enables me to personally see how truly great the need is for support in Fayette and our surrounding counties. Every UK employee has a part in this year’s campaign and that part is giving.
Retiree Campaign
Each year the University of Kentucky's Retiree Campaign provides an opportunity for former employees to once again become part of the University team. The generosity of the UK Retirees accounted for $21,000.00 of the 2006 UKUW Campaign goal.
2007 UKUW Retiree Goal:
Harriett McVey, UKUW Retiree Chair, set an ambitious retiree campaign goal of $24,500.00 for the 2007 Campaign.
As of October 2, the UK retirees have raised $20,289.00 toward their goal. The University is fortunate to have such an active and giving retiree community.

Football Game Collection: Saturday, September 29, -- UK United Way Cabinet members, employees and community volunteers collected donations through the stands at Commonwealth Stadium at the UK vs Florida Atlantic football game. The volunteers collected $16,280.00 from Wildcat fans! A very special thank you to each volunteer who helped with this collection event.
Med Center Fall Festival: October 5, 10:30a.m. – 2:00 p.m., UK HealthCare’s Annual United Way Fall Festival will be held in the Medical Center Courtyard. Food, craft sales, silent auction items, bake sale and lots of door prizes. If you are interested in selling your homemade crafts, volunteering to work the day of the festival, donating a theme basket for the silent auction or a goodie for the bake sale or just want more information contact Sharon Lanham, 3-5508 or email her at slanh0@uky.edu
Campaign Prize Drawing: All employees who make a donation to the UK United Way campaign will be eligible for a campus-wide prize drawing. Prizes will be drawn at random on October 15 and November 26. Please ask for a prize drawing card to fill out when you return your completed UK pledge form showing a donation to the 2007 Campaign.

In appreciation of your support, United Way of the Bluegrass and the Lexington Legends are pleased to announce, for the fifth year in a row, all donors to United Way of the Bluegrass will receive a voucher good for two (2) tickets to a 2008 Lexington Legends Baseball game at Applebee’s Park.
To be eligible to receive a voucher, employees must complete a donation by pledge form. Vouchers will be distributed after completion of the United Way campaign.
