Letter from the Chair

Dear Friends of DanceBlue,

Nearly a year ago, 317 UK students from 60 student organizations danced the night away at DanceBlue 2007 in an effort that raised more than $241,000 for the Pediatric Oncology Clinic at Kentucky Children's Hospital.  This weekend, DanceBlue 2008 will reveal just how far we've come in the past year.  490 dancers representing 75 student organizations will keep Memorial Coliseum rocking from 7 p.m. Friday through 7 p.m. Saturday.  The continued increase in student involvement has been spectacular, and I commend all students of the University of Kentucky for their outpouring of support.  In addition to outstanding student participation, DanceBlue has received extraordinary support this year from UK faculty, staff, administrators and alumni as well.  With a collaborative effort from our University, the Lexington community and the Commonwealth at-large, the potential impact that we can have on Kentucky children battling cancer is unlimited.

On behalf of the DanceBlue 2008 Leadership Team, I would like to thank everyone for their support, and invite you to join us this weekend for the main event.   After watching the Cats game on Saturday, come out to Memorial Coliseum for the Grand Finale of UK's other great tradition.  We will be honoring our Golden Matrix families, enjoying a talent show featuring children from the clinic, and revealing our final fundraising total for 2008.  Don't miss this opportunity to be a part of history at the University of Kentucky.

For the KIDS,

David Ritchie
