UK FUSION 2008

FUSION Volunteers

Volunteers

UK FUSION is one of the greatest traditions at the University of Kentucky. It is a vital way in bridging the gap between the university and the Lexington community. FUSION is a life-changing opportunity for UK students, faculty and staff to say “thank-you” to a community that has given so much.

By taking part in this wonderful experience, participants will have the opportunity to see the rewarding benefits of volunteerism. Whether performing physical work or simply talking to people, the time and effort of FUSION participants will make a difference in the community around them. Non-profit agencies and neighborhood residents look forward to this one-day service event every August. A thankful neighborhood resident just recently told me that “I look forward to this every year. I just love the flowers you all planted!” It is thankful people like this who participants have the opportunity to serve for three hours each August.

My desire for all participants of FUSION 2008 is to gain a new respect and passion for volunteerism. I hope that FUSION will ignite the flickering spark that you may have for community service.  While FUSION is only a one-day experience, people are needed every day to give back. Will you answer the call serve?

Hoping to see you at FUSION 2008!

Regards,

Emily Shemwell
