Quick Facts: DanceBlue

The University of Kentucky Dance Marathon, DanceBlue, is the largest student run philanthropy on UK's campus! DanceBlue is a year-long fundraising effort benefiting children with cancer treated at the UK Pediatric Oncology Clinic. DanceBlue recruits student organizations across UK's campus and encourages them to participate in various events throughout the calendar year, including a Golf Scramble, 5K, Battle of the Bands, and date auction. Organizations independently fundraise for the Golden Matrix Fund, which provides for emotional support for the children and their families, and also provides for cancer research.

In the spring, the year's efforts culminate to a 24-hour no sitting, no sleeping Dance Marathon, symbolic of the students' support for children who suffer from cancer on a daily basis. Raising over $123,000 in the first year, DanceBlue is looking forward to instilling a new tradition at UK.

The entire program is an interactive undertaking for students, staff, faculty, administration, community members, and most importantly, the kids. Students are encouraged to join one of the seven committees on the DanceBlue organization side, or to actively work as a fundraiser as a part of a student organization.

Everything we do is FOR THE KIDS!
