Since 1979, the Kentucky Women Writers Conference has become a premier destination for women writers at all stages of development –published and unpublished–and our festival of free events gathers a lively community of readers. Ours is a two-day conference, September 10–12, 2009, beginning on Thursday night with the Gypsy Slam poetry competition and concluding on Saturday night with a keynote reading. Poet, essayist, and Yale Professor, Elizabeth Alexander recently made history as the fourth poet to compose and deliver a poem at a presidential inauguration. Read more about our keynote presenter.
