mission

Women Writers of Kentucky is the office at the University of Kentucky charged with providing programming that raises the accessibility of the literary arts in the Commonwealth, especially that of women's letters. Our foremost offering is the Kentucky Women Writers Conference, the longest running event of its kind in the nation. In 2002 President Lee Todd reinstated institutional support of the conference as a featured town-and-gown program within the university. Thanks to Dr. Todd's vision and the support of our sponsors and partnering organizations, the Kentucky Women Writers Conference has become a place for celebrating achievement in women's literary arts and our state's esteemed literary history.

Come to a place where the skylines move like creek-beds, where people understand craft as a way of life. One weekend the best women artists from around the world venture to this place to exchange ideas, process, performance—calling us to newly imagine what it means to be a writer.
