On Monday, March 18th, KWRRI presented the 2008 Lyle Sendlein Award for Outstanding Contributions to Water Resources Practice to Kentucky River Authority Director Stephen Reeder.

As executive director of the Kentucky River Authority since September 1998, Mr. Reeder has guided the KRA in its mission to protect and improve the waters of the Kentucky River through environmental management of the entire watershed. Among its many functions, KRA develops comprehensive plans for the management of the Kentucky River Basin, including long range water supply, drought response and ground water protection plans. A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Mr. Reeder served in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and as Transportation Commissioner prior to joining KRA.

The Sendlein Award is named after Dr. Lyle Sendlein, Executive Director of KWRRI from 1992-1998, and was established in 2005 to honor the Commonwealth's leaders in improving water resources practice. The award ceremony took place at the Annual KWRRI Symposium in Lexington, Kentucky.
