RESEARCH INTEREST AND EXPERTISE

Since joining the faculty of the University of Kentucky in 1983, Dr. Ormsbee has been actively engaged in research, teaching, and consulting in water resources and environmental engineering and has published more than 200 technical papers and reports on various topics in this field. Dr. Ormsbee's research interests include: Mathematical Modeling of Hydraulic and Hydrologic Systems (including both surface and groundwater systems), Water Supply Planning, Watershed Management, Water Distribution Network Modeling, TMDL Modeling and Methodologies, Operations Research/Systems Analysis, Research Translation, Groundwater Remediation (including nanotechnologies, and community engagement)

Over the last 30 years, Dr. Ormsbee's research program has helped generate over 40 million dollars in external contracts from such agencies as the National Science Foundation, NOAA, the U.S. Geological Survey, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
