The Ed.D. in Instruction and Administration prepares students to conduct research, teach, and/or assume leadership roles in the field of curriculum and instruction. Graduates of this program pursue a variety of career opportunities, including: becoming university faculty, assuming advanced leadership positions in schools, districts, and state governments, working for curriculum development companies or private consulting, among others.      

The doctorate in Instruction and Administration has three possible areas of emphasis or specializations:

  1. General Ed.D. in Instruction and Administration
  2. Emphasis in Instructional Systems Design
  3. Emphasis in Literary Education

 

 

 

Doctoral Application Requirements

Apply through the UK Graduate School system and include the following:

  • CV
  • Personal Statement
    • Personal statement should include your goals upon completing this degree.
  • Writing sample
    • ​Writing sample should be scholarly in nature, including appropriate research citations and bibliography. A paper meeting these criteria and written for a previously completed graduate course is acceptable.
  • Three letters of recommendation
    • ​Applicants, contact the Director of Graduate Studies to check on what criteria need to be addressed by recommenders. Please contact your recommenders directly and provide them with these criteria.
  • Assistantship Application (Optional - you may upload a blank document, if you do not intend to apply for assistance)
  • The GRE is NOT required for admission to this program. 

 

Applicants must meet the Graduate School admission requirements.

 

  • Application Deadlines:
    • Spring: October 1
    • Summer: January 15
    • Fall: January 15

The College of Education offers scholarships through the generosity of donors, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the College of Education.

For graduate students the scholarship application is available from January 1 and is due by February 15.
