With a two-year $100,000 grant from the Louisville-based Gheens Foundation, the University of Kentucky is launching a pilot initiative entitled 1G2UK focused on improving retention and graduation rates for first-generation college students from Jefferson County.
The 1G2UK Cash for College workshop is hosted by the University of Kentucky for first generation students (defined as an individual with neither parent or guardian having a bachelor's degree) that are currently enrolled in a Jefferson county high school. This workshop will focus on the financial aid process at UK as well as FAFSA education and assistance. There will be free Panera for lunch and we will be giving away an iPad mini! Bring your friends and/or family and we hope to see you there!
