Sloan Anderson

Sloan Anderson is a junior pre-med student with a Biology major and a Spanish Minor. He is an out of state UK student from Maricopa, Arizona and is a member of the Honors Program as well as being a Singletary Scholar and a Chellgren fellow. He is currently a member of Phi Delta Epsilon medical fraternity, in which he served as the chair of the recruitment committee, as well as an ambassador of the Student Outreach team for the Chellgren center and an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Vincent Cassone’s laboratory since August 2015. Sloan likes to spend his free time volunteering at the local VA hospital as well as go on hikes and play ultimate frisbee with his friends.

Hira Arshad

Hira Arshad is a junior biology and psychology major from Bowling Green, KY. She is a part of the Lewis Honors College, where she has served as a peer mentor in the Honors residential hall as well as its vice president of hall government in 2015-16. She is also a member of Phi Delta Epsilon medical fraternity, MedLife, Alpha Chi Sigma professional chemistry fraternity, and Wildcat Service Dogs. She also works as a phlebotomy technician in her hometown hospital. In the past, she has served as an undergraduate researcher with Dr. Elizabeth Debski in the Department of Biology. She is very excited to serve her first year as an Honors Ambassador and share her love for the Honors program at UK with various students across the region. In her spare time, Hira enjoys attending concerts, traveling, playing with dogs, running, and sleeping.

Nathan Doyle

Nathan Doyle is a senior Accounting, Business Management, and Finance triple major from Flemingsburg, Kentucky. He is a member of the Honors Program, Men’s Chorus, and Cats for Christ Student Ministry. He is an active member of Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting co-ed fraternity at UK, and has participated in various career preview nights and social events with the organization. Additionally, he has worked as an Accounting tutor in the Lab for Economic and Accounting Proficiency within the Gatton college of Business and Economics since August 2015. This year, he is excited to once again serve as an Ambassador for the UK Honors College, and begin serving the community through Southside Church of Christ. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, singing, hiking, exploring Lexington, bowling, and playing golf.

Joshua Fakunle

Joshua Fakunle is a Junior at the University of Kentucky double majoring in Accounting & Finance with a Computer Science minor.  At UK he has been an active member of the Honors Program and Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity.  He is currently the Diversity Outreach Coordinator for the Student Government Association as well as the Financial Director and co- founder of the UK Amnesty International C. In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar with friends and watching films.

Gloria Griffin

Gloria Griffin is a junior at UK from Aurora, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. She is majoring in French as part of the University Scholars program (a combined 4-year BA/MA) and is on a pre-PA track. Gloria is an active member of the Honors College and part of the leadership team for Reformed University Fellowship, a Christian campus ministry at UK. She worked for the University of Kentucky Parent and Family Association as an ambassador during the summer of 2016 and enjoyed welcoming incoming students and their parents at orientations. Gloria studied abroad during the Spring 2016 semester in Chambéry, France through UK Education Abroad. She is excited for her first year as an Honors College Ambassador, especially since the Honors Ambassadors she met while in high school at a Preview Night were extremely influential in her decision to attend UK. She loves reading, candles, and coffee (in no particular order) and is excited to meet new students and help them find their home at UK like she has.

Hannah Hollowell

Hannah Hollowell is a sophomore studying Natural Resources and Environmental Science with a minor in Sustainable Agriculture at the University of Kentucky. She grew up on a family farm in Fall Branch, Tennessee, and came to UK as a Patterson Scholar, now studying to be an environmental researcher working on food sustainability issues and ecosystem restoration. At UK, she is involved with the service organization Campus Kitchens, which seeks to diminish the university’s food waste, and is an executive member of the Urban Forestry Club, which focuses on creating and maintaining green spaces on campus. In addition, she is a Peer Mentor for the STEMCats LLP, working to host programs in the dorm and hold tutoring sessions. Off campus, she volunteers with an organization called GleanKY, which works in the Lexington area to prevent food waste and to redistribute excess food to those in need. Besides her involvement with university and local organizations, she also enjoys hiking, playing guitar and piano, and photography. She loves to explore Lexington with friends and likes to try new things, meet new people, and learn more about science and the environment.

Claire Kellen

Claire Kellen is a junior French major with English and linguistics minors and a certificate in Global Studies. Claire is completing a combined 4-year Bachelor and Master of Arts degree in French through a customized version of the University Scholars Program. Claire is also a Singletary Scholar and a Chellgren Fellow, and has been an Honors Ambassador since 2015. She is on the pre-law track and plans to apply to both UK Law and UK’s Patterson School of Diplomacy for a dual degree, hoping to pursue a career in international affairs. On campus, Claire works at the UK Visitor Center as a tour guide and student ambassador, and is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, for which she serves on several committees. She studied abroad in Paris during the summer of 2015, and loved it so much she is returning to Paris to spend the Spring 2017 semester studying at Université de la Sorbonne! She has a passion for travelling, good food, and is also a competitive Irish dancer.

Karly Kindoll

Karly Kindoll is a junior Human Health Sciences major on the pre-med track from Louisville, Kentucky. She is an active member of the Honors College, the Panhellenic Association, and Kappa Delta sorority, where she serves on the Academic Excellence Committee. Additionally, she is a Presidential Scholar, a member of the 2016 Global Health Case Competition winning team, the current Chair of Travel for UK’s American Mock World Health Organization chapter, and a Student Wellness Ambassador. She has worked as an Anesthesia Technician Assistant intern at UK Chandler Hospital and was employed as a Residential Advisor for the KY Governor’s Scholars Program this past summer. She enjoys volunteering with organizations such as Surgery on Sunday and The Nest, and loves spending her free time traveling, hiking, and relaxing with her friends and family.

Jonathan Kinnicutt

Jonathan Kinnicutt is a senior at UK majoring in Business Management with minors in Music and International Business. On campus, Jonathan is active and holds leadership positions in the Honors College, the UK Men’s Chorus, UK Choristers, UK ResLife, and UK’s Reformed University Fellowship.  Through UK he has studied abroad in both Australia (Fall 2015) and in Ghana (Summer 2016 with Alternative Service Breaks).  Outside of UK, Jonathan is an active member of his church (TCPC) and has worked for the Governor’s Scholars Program as an RA (2015 and 2016).  Jonathan’s hobbies include singing, beatboxing, outdoor activities, ENOing coffee shops, sushi, friends, and family.   This school year will be Jonathan’s third year as a member of the Honors College Ambassadors Team and he is excited to serve as the HCAT trainer this year.

Meenu Krishnasamy

Meenu is a junior biology major from Cupertino, California. Outside of her involvement in the Honors Program, she serves as president of Phi Delta Epsilon, the co-ed medical fraternity on campus.  Additionally, she is involved in the UK Center of Community Outreach and serves on the Board of Directors as the Director of Partnerships. She is on the pre-medical track and participates in undergraduate research in the Biology Department. In her spare time, Meenu likes to volunteer, spend time with friends, and watch cute animal videos.

Hannah Latta

Hannah Latta is a senior biology major who hails from Mayfield, Kentucky. She is a member of the Honors Program, Vice President of the Honors Program Student Council, and a Gaines Fellow. She is an active member of Phi Delta Epsilon, the medical co-ed fraternity at UK, and she has served as the organization’s Vice President of Programming and director of the fraternity’s monthly activities program at the Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Additionally, she has served as an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Vivek Rangnekar’s laboratory in the Department of Toxicology and Cancer Biology since October 2014. This year, she is excited to serve as the HCAT coordinator, continue tutoring students at William Wells Brown Elementary School, and to represent the Honors student cohort on the Honors College Transition Committee. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, running, exploring coffee shops, playing piano, and traveling.

Haley Latta

Haley is an English major from Mayfield, Kentucky. She is the Lewis Honors College Student Council Secretary; the Literacy Outreach Coordinator for Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honors Society; an English Peer Mentor; and a 2016-2017 Chellgren Fellow. She also serves as an after-school tutor for students at William Wells Brown Elementary School. In her spare time, Haley enjoys reading Jane Austen books, watching Psych to brush up on her observational skills, and experimenting with different ways to make a pie crust.

Christa Newman

Christa Newman is a junior at the University of Kentucky majoring in psychology and anthropology. She is a member of the Honors Program, a T.W. Lewis Scholar, and a Chellgren Student Fellow. Additionally, she has served as an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Peggy Keller’s laboratory in the Psychology Department, focusing on developmental psychology and family structures. She also began work on an independent project Spring Semester of 2016 with the guidance of her mentor, Dr. Keller. The goal of this project is to look at the relationship between school start times and standardized test scores in the state of New Mexico. She presented a poster on this topic at the Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars in the spring of 2016. This year, she is excited to serve a second term on the Honors College Ambassador Team and to continue her research. In her free time, she enjoys working in the nursery and serving as an adult leader for the youth group at her church, reading, spending time with her friends and family, traveling, and attending UK sporting events.

Yulia Perevozchikova

Yulia Perevozchikova was born in Russia and grew up in Morehead, KY. She is majoring in Human Health Sciences with the hopes of attending medical school. She enjoys volunteering at Baptist Health in the Emergency Department and working as a Chemistry Peer Tutor at The Study. This year she will be getting involved in undergraduate research with Dr. Ingram in the College of Public Health. In her spare time, she tries to spend as much time as possible with friends and family. She recently picked up running and ran her first 5K this past summer

Jenna Perkins

Jenna Perkins is a Junior at the University of Kentucky, majoring in Human Health Sciences and on the pre-dental track. In addition to her involvement in the Honors College as an Ambassador and Learning Apprentice for Professor Buck Ryan, Jenna participates in Cats for Christ, serves as an executive board member for the Alternative Service Breaks program, and tutors for the CARES program. Landon Perraut

Landon Perraut is a senior Global Scholar at UK majoring in Accounting with a minor in International Business.  On campus, Landon has held multiple leadership positions within UK ResLife, the honors Accounting fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi, and has participated in the Honors Program Dance Blue team.  Through UK, Landon is currently studying abroad in Prague for the Fall 2016 semester.  Landon enjoys running, eating food, playing ultimate Frisbee, and rating milkshakes on his personal milkshake blog.  This will be Landon’s third year working with the Honors College Ambassador Team.

Christina Pistilli

Christina Pistilli is from Lexington, KY and plans on attaining her bachelors of science in biology in three years. She is a Singletary scholar, a Chellgren Student fellow, and a member of the honors college. Christina is involved in undergraduate research through the College of Medicine Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center in Dr. Jim Geddes lab and enjoys volunteering at UK Hospitals. When she’s not studying or volunteering she loves to rock climb, hike at the Red River Gorge, and play with her German Shepherd, Chance.

Abby Shelton

Abigail Shelton is a junior majoring in electrical engineering and minoring in mathematics from Mount Washington, Kentucky. She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers, is in the Honors Program, serves as a Dance Blue Team Captain, and tutors calculus. Abby lived in the Honors Living Learning Program her freshman year and was an active member in hall government. This is her second year as a resident advisor in Woodland Glen III, which houses the Engineering Living Learning Program. Last summer, Abby worked at a consulting engineering firm and is interested in sustainable design and renewable energy. She is currently taking classes to obtain her Power and Energy Institute of Kentucky (PEIK) certificate and plans to participate in the Engineering/MBA Dual Degree Program. When not studying, Abby enjoys biking, running, kayaking, arts and crafts, and spending time with family.

Austin Sprinkles

Austin Sprinkles is a senior Political Science and History major from Barbourville, Kentucky. He is a member of the UK Honors College, Senior Peer Mentor in the Honors Residential College and Recognition Chair of the UK chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary. He is a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity. He has completed research in both the fields of History and Political Science. He is honored to have the opportunity to again represent the University of Kentucky as a member of HCAT. Austin is passionate about civic engagement and politics, is involved in various civic and political events across campus, and has interned for U.S. Representative Hal Rogers in Washington D.C. He is also involved with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF), a UK campus ministry. Austin enjoys touring historic sites, spending time with friends and family, learning about history, trying different varieties of donuts, and is an avid fan of the app snapchat, where he rates the various donuts he tries.

Katherine Wells

Katherine Wells is a junior biology major who is originally from Paintsville, KY.  She is a Singletary Scholar, Scholar Service Mentor, and member of the Honor’s College.  She is also an active member in Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, serving on the sorority’s scholarship committee.  Katherine is also highly involved with Student Wellness Ambassadors, a student run organization promoting holistic wellness on campus.  Katherine has previously been involved with Student Government Association’s Leadership Development Program and the Center for Community Outreach’s day of service, FUSION.  She also enjoys serving the Lexington community at God’s Pantry.  In her free time, she loves spending time with her friends and family as well as spending time outdoors.

Lauren Williams

Lauren Williams is a senior political science major born and raised in Richmond, KY. At UK, Lauren is an active member of the undergraduate mock trial team and has served as the program’s president for three years. As a member of the Honors College, Lauren served as an LLP Peer Mentor during the 2014-2015 school year and has been an Honors College Ambassador since 2015. Additionally, Lauren has been involved with the Office of New Student and Family Programs since 2014 and is excited to serve as a Super Crew leader this year. She is also a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society and the College Republicans chapter at UK. Lauren is passionate about politics and public service and throughout her college career has interned for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in Washington, DC, the U.S. House of Representatives congressional office for Kentucky’s 6th district, and Andy Barr for Congress. Ellie Wnek

Ellie Wnek is a sophomore from Fairfield, Ohio majoring Integrated Strategic Communication with minors in Spanish and Latin America, Caribbean, and Latino Studies. She is a member of the Honors College, Alpha Phi Omega, Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), and the Newman Center choir. Additionally, she is a LEXengaged Peer Mentor and a Campus Ambassador for the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation. This year, she is excited to meet prospective Wildcats as a member of HCAT, educating students about bone marrow donation and adding students to the worldwide registry, and sing in the Newman Center choir again. In her free time, she enjoys singing, volunteering, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
