Nathan Moore is a senior majoring in English and minoring in African American and Africana Studies.
Established to honor Edward T. Breathitt, an eminent Kentuckian (Governor of KY, 1963-67) and an outstanding alumnus of the University of Kentucky whose interest in higher education and the humanities was exceptional, this lectureship is awarded to an undergraduate whose qualities of mind and spirit have been expressed eloquently on one or more of the basic concerns of the humanities: form, value, and memory. The award is presented by the UK Gaines Center for the Humanities.
The Edward T. Breathitt Undergraduate Lecturer receives a special award and an honorarium of $500.
The application for the 2016 Breathitt Lecture will open in late Fall 2015. Below are application instructions from the past year.
To apply to give the Breathitt Lecture, please complete the application form at the bottom of this page and submit it to the Gaines Center, 232 E. Maxwell Street by Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 4pm.
Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by Thursday, December 11. The 2015 lecturer is asked to meet with the staff of the Gaines Center during Fall Final Exam Week.
