Many majors and minors include graduate courses as requirements or optional selections. The Honors Program enables students that are taking graduate courses to count these courses toward the student’s Honors curriculum while also counting them toward their major or minor degree requirements.
Honors students are high achievers and graduate professors are encouraged to work with dedicated and intelligent students. Many Honors students are able to gain access to graduate courses that are typically not available to non-Honors students. In fact, Honors students are given the opportunity to join graduate student research teams and are often the only undergraduate researcher on the team.
Being exposed to graduate curriculum as an undergraduate is a great way to see first-hand what happens at the higher levels of the educational process and often stimulates a student’s desire to pursue a graduate-level education.
