The Academy at the University of Kentucky actively encourages students to pursue fellowship opportunities available to them in order to push themselves and their research to its fullest potential. Additionally, the Fellowship Programs within the Academy cultivate an intimate and supportive environment among fellow scholars working together.
The two primary fellowship programs offered through the Academy are The Chellgren Fellowship Program sponsored by the Chellgren Center for Academic Excellence, and the Gaines Fellowship Program sponsored by the Gaines Center for the Humanities. Students may apply for the Chellgren Program their freshman year in order to participate their sophomore year. The Gaines program interviews students their sophomore year, and if invited, students participate their junior and senior years on campus. Both the Chellgren and the Gaines Fellowship encapsulate undergraduate research, improvement within the UK and the Lexington community, and excellence in teaching.
