Lesley entered her studies at the University of Kentucky in 2006 as a Singletary Scholar and was involved in a variety of extra-cirricular activities during her undergraduate career. She served as the President of the Society for the Promotion of Undergraduate Research (SPUR) and was a member of the Honors Program and the Chellgren Fellows Program. She is a Goldwater Scholarship and Gates Cambridge Scholarship recipient. She received the Raymond Crystal Award of Service in 2007. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Biotechnology from the University of Kentucky in 2010 and went on to receive her Master of Philosophy in Bioscience Enterprises from the University of Cambridge, St. John's College in the United Kingdom.  She currently resides in Dallas, Texas and works as a Journalist for D Magazine, the nation's best selling local magazine.
