Students with a strong grade point average, with significant records of community and public service, STEM majors, students with an interest in developing language proficiency through study abroad are all potentially good candidates for exploring external scholarship opportunities. This is only a sampling of the types of students who should be referred to the Office of External Scholarships to discuss the types of awards that apply to their interests and goals. Encouragement from respected faculty members and advisors can make a difference to students who are not sure if they should apply for an award. Even if a student is undeclared or in a different major than what you teach, he or she should be encouraged to contact us.
Please use the following form to identify students who should be encouraged to apply for external awards. If you know a student’s specific interest, please indicate the award for which you feel a student should apply. But even if you have no idea, we will be happy to contact the student to make them aware of these opportunities and the preparation required by the student to be eligible.
When you submit a student name to the OES, we will respond with an email letting the student know they have been recommended to the office based on their record of accomplishment and will be invited to attend a scholarship information session or to meet individually with Dr. Whitlow. The recommending faculty member will be copied on the email.
