Critical Language Scholarship Program

D.C. Internships

Emigre Memorial German Internship

The Internship Program offers students internships at a German state parliament to gain government work experience, improve German language skills and learn about German culture. Visit the website for more information.

English-Speaking Union Scholarship

The Kentucky Branch of the ESU will award scholarships for students to take summer courses offered at three institutions in the United Kingdom: Cambridge University, Oxford University, and Edinburgh University. French Internship

The Lexington Sister Cities Commission offers students from Lexington to gain professional experience through an internship in France. Benefits include a placement for internship, living arrangements, and some compensation. Applicants must be 18 years old, have good knowledge of French, and be available to be abroad for 2 months. Gilman Scholarship

The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduates receiving Federal Pell Grants to study abroad. Students apply directly for this award but must have a letter of support from a Study Abroad Adviser AND Financial Aid Adviser.  Visit the website for deadlines and more information.

Henry Clay Internship

The Henry Clay Internship is open to students at Kentucky colleges and universities who wish to pursue a career in public service for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Each intern receives a stipend for living expenses in Washington during the summer internship. Visit the website for more information.

Humanity in Action Fellowship

The HIA Fellowship brings international groups of students and recent graduates to explore national histories of discrimination and resistance. IGSP Summer Fellowship Program

Duke University hosts a 10-week summer fellowship program within the Duke Institute for Genome Sciences and Policy. Research ranges from cutting-edge genome science, technology and their applications to the study of the ethical, legal, social and personal consequences of genome science. The German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD, provides scholarships students to attend a summer seminar/internship program in Berlin. Lexington Prosecutor Summer Internship

The Summer Prosecutorial Internship Program gives students insight into the workings of the criminal justice system. Students will be exposed to activities to acquaint them with the responsibilities of being a prosecutor. Visit the website for more information.

Pasteur Foundation Undergraduate Internships

The Pasteur Foundation of New York encourages students to pursue scientific careers and expose them to an international laboratory experience during a 10-week summer internship. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and should have working knowledge of French. Visit the website for more information.

Public Policy & International Affairs (PPIA) Junior Summer Institute

The PPIA Fellowship is a seven-week summer program that focuses on preparing students for graduate programs in public and international affairs. Students must be a U.S. citizen in order to apply and should be committed to completing a Master's Degree in public/international affairs at a PPIA Consortium graduate school. Stowers Scholars Program

The Stowers Summer Scholars Program provides a laboratory experience for students to work on an independent research project under the direction of a principal investigator. Taiwan-United States Sister Relations Alliance Summer Scholarship

The TUSA Summer Scholarship Program is a unique ambassador program designed for full-time students to learn Mandarin and immerse themselves in culture of Taiwan over 2 months. UNCF/Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship

The UNCF/Merck Science Research Initiative awards scholarships up to $30,000 to students to participate in a 10-12 week summer research internship with a Merck scientist. Students must be an African American U.S. Citizen or permanent resident to apply. Visit the website for more information.
