New in Blackboard
On August 12, 2014, Blackboard was updated. The Office of eLearning offered workshops to provide you with hands-on experience with some of the new features. Workshops were held in room B-108A in the basement of William T. Young Library on August 20th and August 26th.
SafeAssign is now integrated into regular Blackboard Learn assignments. With this integration, almost all of the regular assignment features are available with the SafeAssign service, including inline assignment grading and UK Core artifact alignment. Additionally, SafeAssign Originality Reports have been updated to be easier to read. To learn more, see SafeAssign or SafeAssign Originality Reports.
Note: SafeAssignments will not be automatically converted.
If you plan on copying course content from a previous semester, please delete your old SafeAssignments and recreate them after August 12th.
Previously, the Edit Mode On/Off control approximated what a student who had access to everything in a course might see. The new Student Preview feature provides the capability for an Instructor to see the course exactly how a student would see it. It accomplishes this by allowing the Instructor to easily transition into and out of a preview account that is automatically enrolled in the course as a Student. Anonymous & Delegated Grading
Whenever you want to add another layer of fairness and impartiality to your grading, you can use the anonymous grading feature. Using grades and feedback from more than one grader helps to promote reliability and remove bias. For large classes, you can divide up the grading tasks among TAs and other graders. Portfolios are an invaluable tool in academic and professional development. They provide a powerful medium for users to efficiently collect and organize artifacts representative of work completed over time. Portfolios are now easier than ever to create and can even be submitted to assignments in Learn. Click to find out more about Portfolios.
