The risk level to tobacco in KY is LOW at this time.
The current threat to tobacco in KY is expected to be LOW through July 15, according to North American Plant Disease Forecast Center. Despite the low threat level, continued scouting is adivised. Growers should check fields regularly for signs of disease and contact their local Extension agent if they suspect blue mold. Any plants remaining in float or convientinal plant beds should be destroyed. We also recommend application of mancozeb (Dithane DF or Manzate Pro-Stick) at weekly intervals on transplants until plants are ready to set to protect against blue mold and target spot. Begin a fungicide program in the field if conditions favor blue mold or the disease threatens our region.
