Career Planning and Advising
The James W. Stuckert Career Center is a resource available to help all University of Kentucky students and alumni with career decision making, career deciding/exploring, development of career goals, considering graduate or professional school options, resume development, job search strategies, finding an internship, improving interviewing skills, and more. We offer career advising and coaching by a variety of professionals.
How can we assist you in in your career management?
1.Drop-in appointments are provided to current undergraduate students and alumni up to 6 months after graduation. Drop-ins are on a walk-in basis and you will be seen on a first-come first-served basis. Simply come in during the scheduled hours and sign-in when you arrive and a staff member will see you as soon as possible. During the academic year we accept walk-in appointments from 11:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. on Monday to Thursday. Students are required to have a Wildcat CareerLink account with the Stuckert Career Center, which takes about 5 minutes to complete. Please bring relevant materials such as a paper copy of your resume, cover letter, or job descriptions to which you are applying. These sessions are designed for needs that can normally be addressed by a staff member within 15 minutes.
Monday - Thursday 11am - 3pm
2. Individual Appointments: We strongly prefer that students attend drop-in hours first to meet with an advisor who can help you determine the appropriate next step.If you are absolutely unable to attend drop-in hours you can schedule an appointment by calling 859-257-2746. Appointments are scheduled during the normal business hours 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. or special arrangements can be made at the request of students. These appointments are reserved for current undergraduate students and recent alumni who have the most need and arranged at the discretion of the James W. Stuckert Career Center.
3. Kemper Career Library is a great place to review career development and management resources, such as books, brochures, magazines, company materials, and graduate and professional school information. You will also have online access with a wireless environment and workstations. The Library is open from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. on Monday to Friday during a normal business week.
