Welcome to CELT

The Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) was created in the summer of 2010 as a way of highlighting educational development resources and services available to UK instructors. The center is housed on the fifth floor of the King Building (home of the Science Library) in room 518.

CELT's mission is to promote and support excellence in teaching and learning at the University of Kentucky.  We work with all instructors at UK and collaborate with many other academic support units to create engaging, innovative and inclusive learning environments in which diverse students can excel.

To accomplish our mission we offer a variety of resources and services to include, but not limited to:

Come visit us in room 518 of the King Building and meet our staff.

Joining academia four years ago following a professional career presented challenges. The one-on-one consultations with Kathryn Cunningham from CELT have undeniably made me a more effective teacher in the classroom! The graduate classes that I teach are either 2 ½ hours in length for weekly sessions or 8 hours/day in length for executive format courses. CELT provided a framework for designing significant learning experiences for the students. Creative, interactive approaches suggested by Kathryn have increased student engagement during class and increased my confidence in trying different classroom assessment techniques. As a result, class evaluations are high and I've been honored by the students with outstanding teaching awards. This would not have been possible without the expertise of Kathryn and the resources of CELT.
