Managing Microaggressions

Event Location:
Niles Gallery, Fine Arts Library
Event Date:
Wednesday, November 30, 2016 - 4:00pm

Workshop concludes at 5:30.

This workshop draws on theories developed by psychologist Derald W. Sue and his research team to explore the effects of microaggressions. Also known as microinequities, microaggressions refer to commonplace, everyday interactions that communicate hostility toward another individual based on her/his identification with an underrepresented group. Participants of the workshop will be led through exercises to assist in better identifying and responding to microaggressions when they occur.
