Community EventsThe Sanders-Brown Center on Aging Calendar of Events features the following Education/Community events, intended for the community, patients, and caregivers.
The University of Kentucky College of Public Health provides this annual forum for professionals to share the most current information in geriatrics and gerontology from a multidisciplinary perspective. During three days of educational sessions, lectures and workshops, participants choose from topics on clinical issues, policy, technology, management, wellness, housing, healthcare, and service. The Summer Series on Aging provides innovative and practical information for professionals in service provision, nursing, social work, home health, recreation, pharmacy, case management, nutrition, law, religion, medicine, state and regional aging planning, senior centers, physical and occupational therapy, education and other professions in the field.

The UK-ADC and the SBCoA have partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association, KY Telecare, and Area Health Education Center in the development of educational outreach and clinical care to rural areas of Kentucky. This program was designed specifically to bring the resources of the UK-ADC, SBCoA and the Alzheimer’s Association directly into the community.
The UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, UK-ADC, the Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Alzheimer’s Association, and the Kentucky Telecare Network join with other Kentucky health care organizations to present educational programs.
Healthcare providers/students can participate in educational programs broadcast from anywhere in the world, just as if they were in the room with the speaker.
Patients can access specialized medical education programming from the convenience of their community healthcare facility.
Virtual support groups for Alzheimer’s patients and MS patients are also available to bring family caregivers together to meet with medical experts and share with others who understand.
