The UK Counseling Center (UKCC) is a resource for students who experience distress and concerns related to emergencies and disasters. Additionally, students who have previous experience with disaster situations may find themselves triggered by news of these hurricane-related events. It may be helpful to limit media exposure in order to avoid being overwhelmed by images and reports of this trauma. The UKCC is located at 106 Frazee Hall (on Administration Drive), and students may walk in for an Initial Assessment or a crisis consult Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm. Calling the UKCC main number, 859.257.8701, will connect those seeking consultation during and outside of regular office hours. For more information, please visit the UKCC website at http://www.uky.edu/counselingcenter/
The University of Kentucky’s Student Financial Wellness Center is geared toward engaging our students in financial literacy, and dedicated to supporting the evolving financial needs of students across campus. If the hurricane has displaced your family and you are worried about paying for school, contact the Student Financial Wellness Center in 331 Patterson Hall at 859-323-5241 or email Tiffany Jackson, Financial Wellness Director at firstname.lastname@example.org
In an emergency, communication about the safety of the members of our university community is a key concern. Faculty, staff and students may utilize the Red Cross Safe and Well website for leaving and retrieving messages during an emergency event. Once they register on the Red Cross site, faculty, staff and students can list themselves as safe and well. Then friends and family can search a single source for their updates.
