Ruben Suare, Director of Business Development at 3form, will lead a discussion for design professionals on an emerging framework for collaborations between design and manufacturing professionals and the potential benefits gained through an Integrated Project Delivery process. Suare will give an introductory presentation illustrated by recent 3form projects to illustrate how manufacturers are now using integrated project delivery and lean construction processes to achieve unprecedented innovation in materials and construction methods. Suare's presentation will be followed by a discussion on IPD moderated by Dean Michael Speaks.
About Ruben Suare
Ruben Suare attended UC Berkeley where he studied architecture, and UC Irvine where he obtained his MBA. Suare has over 20 years of experience in business and architecture, uniquely combining award-winning construction projects with business innovation ideas that have lead to the creation of new business units in both industries. Suare's professional life has been focused on interdisciplinary relationships as well as in depth investigations on how different industries can work together more efficiently and achieve higher levels of innovation.
In 2001 Suare created an architectural group at CTEK, an interdisciplinary company involved in aerospace and the automobile industries to spearhead processes that led to the creation of new technologies for fabrication of architectural projects. While at 3form (2004) he created an architectural division (a design studio inside the company) to link architects with the manufacturing facility and to facilitate knowledge transfer between the two, making it easier to collaborate in successful, highly innovative projects. The architectural division was instrumental in the development of a new material process to fabricate translucent real wood used to clad the interior of the Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center in NY in collaboration with Diller & Scofidio + Renfro Architects and FX FOWLE Architects, among other projects.
