Land of Tomorrow (LOT) Gallery / 527 E. 3rd St. Lexington
Sponsored by Pella Windows and Doors and the UK Alumni Association
The College of Design is pleased to announce the End of Year Student Show, an exhibition of student work. This year’s show will display the groundbreaking research, design and collaboration taking place at the CoD through the work of five selected studios and three best student projects.
The studios presented in the exhibition are innovating design solutions for global problems experienced in and around the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Studio research includes the adaptive reuse of the decommissioned Henderson Municipal Power and Light #1 coal fire power plant in downtown Henderson, KY; the adaptation of a regional houseboat industry to fabricate energy-efficient, low-cost multi-family housing; a re-imagination of the Cincinnati Art Museum that would draw diverse populations to experience and affirm the importance of the museum’s collection; the conversion of a historic office building into a grocery store, and adaptive reuse of the old Lafayette Hotel in downtown Lexington; a hundred year strategy for the environmental, economic, and spatial evolution of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PGDP) in Paducah Kentucky.
The three best student projects will represent each of the CoD’s three programs, the School of Architecture, the School of Interior Design and the Historic Preservation Program.
