UK Alumni Association Lunch & Learn with Doug Appler
December 5, 2012, 11:30am
714 East Main Street, Louisville, KY (map it)
In the last two years, students in the Historic Preservation Studio at the University of Kentucky have worked in the historic cities of Northern Kentucky and in Georgetown. They have developed proposals for regional heritage trails, documented neglected neighborhoods, and explored the relationship between preservation, the arts and economic development. They are currently working to populate an iPhone app that will allow the public to experience the state's historic Main Street communities in a new way.
This Lunch and Learn event, featuring Douglas Appler, the Helen Edwards Abell Endowed Chair of Historic Preservation, will provide alumni with an opportunity to learn about changes taking place within the field of historic preservation and how UK students are taking advantage of those new opportunities. Cost to attend is $8 for members; $10 for nonmembers and includes admission to the event and a boxed lunch. Reservations can be made online at http://www.ukalumni.net/preserve
or by calling 859-257-7161. Please RSVP by Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.
