Historic Preservation Admissions

Admission Steps and Requirements:
• Must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
• Must have a B grade point average at the undergraduate level.
• Must fill out and mail the Historic Preservation Program application. Applications are due March 1.
• Must apply separately to the University of Kentucky Graduate School.
• Must demonstrate ability in writing, drawing, drafting, and/or photography through submission of a portfolio:
  • Portfolio will NOT be returned to applicants and should not include original work.
  • Portfolio should be of quality and succinctly presented.
  • Portfolio should be letter size (no binder) and not exceed 20 sheets.
  • All included material should present visual acuity and graphic abilities through, but not limited to, a selection of: architectural/engineering drawings, painting, drawings, prints, graphic design, or photography. Exhibited work should be accompanied by brief statement of intent, degree of involvement (where not self-evident) and/or the rationale for the work.
• Must submit three letters of recommendation.
• Must submit a personal essay.
