Lu Ann Holmes of Park Hills was elected to the UK Alumni Association Board of Directors as a College of Design representative. Her term began July 1, 2012, and will continue through June 30, 2015.
Holmes received a bachelor’s degree in interior design in 1979 from University of Kentucky and an MBA in 1986 from University of Pittsburgh. While at UK, she was active in Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, on Greek Activities Steering Committee, in American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Student Chapter, Mortar Board and multiple service organizations. Currently, she serves on the College of Design Interior Design Alumni Advisory Board, was named 2010 Friend of the College of Design and actively supports student interior design scholarships and curricular activities at UK College of Design.
She became a Life Member of UK Alumni Association in l987, a University Fellow in 2002, and joined the Board of NKY/GC Alumni Club in 2007, currently serving as President Elect. Professional activities since returning to Kentucky in l999 include Leadership Northern Kentucky Class of 2002; ASID, IIDA, AIA Professional Design Organizations; admission to the Society of Fellows, ASID; and being named a Kentucky Colonel.
Currently employed as a senior business development manager at Haworth, a global workplace solutions provider, she supports independent dealers in the region, while working with customers such as Great American Insurance furnishing the Queen City Tower and Wright Patterson Air Force Base. She has been named a Pinnacle Member of Haworth, recognizing Sales Achievement and Leadership. She is passionate about student development and achievement, service learning opportunities, community philanthropy, international travel, playing tennis, spoiling her nieces and nephews and is slowly renovating a circa 1926 home in the Park Hills Historic District.
