University-Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP) to meet in October in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (September 14, 2012) – The next meeting of the University-Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP) will be held October 17-19 in Lexington at the Griffin Gate Marriott Hotel. University of Kentucky and Lexmark are lead hosts for this event.

University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto, UK Vice President for Research James W. Tracy, and former UK President Lee Todd, as well as Lexington Mayor Jim Gray and local entrepreneur Ben Self, are scheduled to speak at the conference. The eclectic roster of speakers includes industry experts from Boeing, Alltech, Lexmark, and Owens Corning. University speakers include individuals from Kansas State University, Ohio State University and University of Cincinnati. For a complete list of speakers, click here.

UIDP provides a forum for university and industry representatives to meet and discuss contracting and intellectual property policy, publication and technology transfer preferences, and other issues. An essential part of the forum is its unique project process. The UIDP’s unique action-oriented approach provides an opportunity to test potential solutions for concrete projects that result in proofs of concepts and best practices.

The partnership is not discipline-specific and includes representatives from public and private universities (both large and small) and companies from sectors such as agriculture, the automobile industry, chemicals, consumer products, information technology, life science, and manufacturing. More than 70 members are currently active, representing diverse national leadership from industry and universities with strategic engagement from the nonprofit and public sectors.
