Top Questions

Is financial aid available to me?

Yes! Online students in degree-earning programs (not certificate programs) are eligible for the same financial aid as in-person students. Students should fill out a FAFSA form each year to see what they qualify for, and utilize UK’s online scholarship database once admitted to apply for scholarships.

Will I have to attend a prescribed class time?

This depends on the class and/or program. Most online programs don’t have prescribed class times- just review the material and submit assignments according to the course syllabus. A few programs/courses may require infrequent or regular video conference calls/lectures that you will know about in advance.

What’s the application deadline?

Deadlines vary by program. You can find this information on your program’s UK Online page. Search your program page to view its specific deadline information. Also, view the information in How to Apply to see if certain student status affect your application deadline.

Will my diploma say "UK Online"?

No. All degrees are conferred by the University of Kentucky. There is no statement of “online” on your diploma or your transcripts.

Can my previous college credit count?

Most students find it easy to transfer credit and finish their degree with UK Online. See our transfer credit guidelines for graduate students or transfer admission guidelines for undergraduates.

Accreditation

The University of Kentucky is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, educational specialist, and doctorate degrees.
