In 2010, a campus collaborative was formed in an effort to best support students, faculty, staff and the community with regards to service-learning; a form of teaching that deliberately engages the campus with the community to meet a specific need for the community and supports continued learning for the students. We, the Center for Service-Learning, envision a campus and community connected through authentic partnerships to advance positive societal change.

Our Mission

In collaboration with our campus and community partners, the Center for Service-Learning promotes and supports sustainable service-learning experiences that foster civic-mindedness and shared knowledge within our communities near and far.

Our Goals

The Center for Service Learning seeks to:

  • Serve as a centralized point of entry and means of support for service-learning courses and programs.
  • Develop new and enhance existing campus-community partnerships through service-learning.
  • Promote civic responsibility through the integration of service-learning within curricular and co-curricular experiences.
