Ellen Hahn PhD, RN, FAAN

Dr. Ellen Hahn, Director of the OEHN core, is an Alumni Professor in the Colleges of Nursing and Public Health at UK and Director of BREATHE including the Tobacco Policy Research Program, the Kentucky Center for Smoke-free Policy (KCSP), and the Radon Policy Research Program. Hahn and colleagues have published multiple smoke-free workplace policy outcome studies showing positive health effects and no harm to business.

Butler, Karen, DNP, MSN, RN

OEHN Deputy Director; DNP Chair/Member. Tobacco dependence prevention and treatment in rural areas, health promotion, leadership in nursing, nursing and interprofessional education; uses culturally sensitive methods to reach rural populations on tobacco cessation.

In addition to the leadership of Drs. Hahn, Reed et al., the OEHN program is enriched by the experience and skills of additional supporting faculty members at not only the University of Kentucky but also East Tennessee State University and other regional institutions. These include, but are not limited to

  • Joy Wachs, PhD, FNP, FAAOHN; Professor of Nursing, ETSU; voluntary faculty, UK CON. Research includes hospital safety and occupational injuries among registered nurses.
