Outcomes

The Central Appalachian Regional Education and Research Center (CARERC) was launched with modest funding on July 1, 2012 ($600,000 out of a $1.3 million budget request) and has showed sustained growth during each year of funding. Considering only the most recently completed 2015-2016 funding year, CARERC funding supported 28 trainees across its five core disciplines. 10 of these trainees graduated with all but one finding employment in occupational health and safety related jobs. Continuing Education projects overall have reached 4615 individuals across 44,967 person hours. During 2015-2016 alone, CE reached 1960 professionals in 28.479 person hours. Pilot funding has supported 14 projects, 4 of which have developed into larger grant applications.
