Nestled in the heart of the Kentucky bluegrass, the University of Kentucky's eleven colleges, five professional schools, the Graduate School and Lexington Community College support more than 34,000 students. UK offers 88 bachelor's level, 93 master's level and more than 60 doctoral, specialist and professional degree programs.

UK College of Fine Arts

UK School of Music

There are almost 400 music majors in the School of Music, including 110 graduate students. The 39 faculty members are recognized for excellence in teaching, performance, and research. Within their disciplines they are leaders in the community and region, and across the United States. With a low faculty-to-student ratio, the School of Music provides personal attention with small classes and excellent private applied instruction.

The UK School of Music is one of 10 designated Areas of Excellence within the University for its outstanding programs. The School has achieved awards and national recognition for high-caliber education in opera, choral and instrumental music performance, as well as for music education, composition, theory and music history. Performing Groups/Ensembles

Our performing groups have won acclaim in prestigious competitions, and reviews in performance alongside world-class artists, and in recognized music journals. Students have the opportunity to perform in the Wildcat Marching Band, Orchestra, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensembles, Jazz Ensembles, Choral Ensembles, UK Opera Theatre and numerous other performing ensembles.
