1 to 5 p.m. EDT, at Hindman Settlement School, 71 Center Street, Hindman, KY 41811. For fruit and vegetable growers who are currently or who wish to sell at farmers markets, restaurants, roadside stands, or local institutions. Topics will include:
- Coming up with a crop calendar: seeding, transplanting, and harvest dates
- Choosing which crops to grow
- Making planting maps
- Matching yield and sales goals with the amount your garden can produce
- Crop rotation
- Succession planting multiple crops per season
Presenters will be Matt Wilson and Chris McKenzie of Grow Appalachia in partnership with Hindman Settlement School. Funding for the workshop comes from the Kentucky Ag Development Fund (KADF) managed by the Governor's Office of Ag. Policy.
