What You Need to Know: 

Enrollment in UK benefits occurs during an annual Open Enrollment period, within 30 days of a new employee's hire date or following one of several "qualifying events" such as the birth of a child, divorce or a change in employment status. Register online through myUK Employee Self-Service or use paper forms. Details below.

When Can I Enroll in UK Benefits?

According to UK HR Policy #93, "Enrollment may occur within the initial 30 days of employment, during periods of open enrollment or within 30 days of a qualifying family status change.   

Qualifying events are listed in the table below, along with required documentation for each type of event. Please note: A change in enrollment will be effective as of the date of the qualifying event (for example, on the day of birth of a covered dependent child).

Marriage Copy of marriage certificate
Divorce Copy of final court decree
Employment status Statement on company letterhead stating change (with begin and end dates)
Life insurance (decrease only) Life insurance form

How Do I Enroll in UK Benefits?

1. Enroll Online

You may enroll from your office computer or in the comfort of your own home with your own computer.

It’s easy! Visit the myUK Employee Self-Service online. Enter your link blue user ID and password and click “sign on.” (This is the ID/ password you use to log into your Exchange e-mail account, or in some cases, to log into SAP. For assistance with your ID or password, contact Information Technology at 257-1300.)

2. Paper Option

Changes You Can Make Anytime Throughout the Year

You can make the following changes any time throughout the year:

  • Decrease optional life insurance coverage
  • Adjust voluntary retirement contributions
  • Check out UK discounts on auto or home insurance
  • Change beneficiaries for your life insurance or retirement plan
