Subject: New Important Information from Anthem

Dear Colleagues,

Last week, we made you aware Anthem was the target of a very sophisticated external, cyber attack. We sent three emails updating you on the situation, sharing additional information as we became aware.

Late Friday afternoon, Anthem informed the University they would be sending emails out the week of February 16th to inform their members of the cyber-attack and the credit monitoring services that are available (see anthemfacts.com).

In previous emails from the University, we indicated Anthem would not email you or engage you in any other electronic format.  Anthem has changed their position on sending emails to conform to state security breach laws, which require companies to notify via email those individuals who have provided their email addresses to the company.

Anthem has your email address if you have gone to anthem.com and registered for an account in the past.  As a part of the account registration, an email account must be provided.

For your convenience, we have placed a copy of the email Anthem will be sending individuals on the Human Resources website (uky.edu/HR/benefits).  Information related to free credit monitoring and identity theft protection is available at anthemfacts.com.

We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate to you any changes as we are made aware of them by Anthem.
