Health Smart Conversation: Biological Clocks
You may not think about it very often, but your biological clock helps you operate each and every day. In fact, biological clocks are actually fundamental properties of not only humans, but most organisms on Earth. These internal clocks produce rhythms of approximately 24 hours and are synchronized to the 24 hour cycle of day and night by the rise and fall of the sun. Did you know that there are ways you can practice good circadian hygiene?
In this talk, UK Biology Chair Dr. Vincent M. Cassone, reveals the benefits of good circadian hygiene based on his research and the health issues that are associated with the opposite, desynchrony. Desynchrony of our biological clocks are known to be contributing factors in obesity, cardiovascular disease, inflammatory bowel syndrome and even cancer.
