The UK Early Childhood Laboratory (ECL)

The UK Early Childhood Laboratory (ECL) is located on campus and provides early childhood education to 57 children from six weeks of age through pre-school. This program is operated by the College of Education and provides both full-time and part-time schedules. UK announced earlier this this year that ECL is set to expand in 2014.

Woodland Early Learning Center at the University of Kentucky

The University of Kentucky recognizes the importance of balancing work and family. That's why UK has partnered with CCLC (Children's Creative Learning Centers), part of the Knowledge Learning Corporation family of schools, to offer child care on campus. Founded in 1992, CCLC is a national child care provider dedicated to quality employer-sponsored early childhood education. Woodland Early Learning Center offers care to over 150 children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age at a discounted rate for UK employees and students. UK employees might also be eligible for tuition discounts at local KinderCare Centers. That way you can work each day with the peace of mind knowing your child is safe and secure.

Child Development Center of the Bluegrass

Since 1958, Child Development Center of the Bluegrass, Inc. has been providing early childhood services for children in the Bluegrass area. Today, the center offers a full-day early childhood program for both children with and without disabilities from 6 weeks of age until a child is eligible for kindergarten. In addition, our therapists are available for outpatient therapy services.

Choosing a Quality Child Care Program

This page will give you information on what to look for, listen for and ask while you are searching for a quality child care provider. 
 
The STARS for KIDS NOW program is Kentucky's voluntary quality rating improvement system for Licensed Type I, Type II and Certified Family Child Care Homes. Programs are rated using a one- to four-STAR level system. This site also allows you to search for STARS rated facilities. All three childcare centers on or adjacent to UK campus participate in STARS and are rated highly; ECL and CDCB have received four STARS.
 
NAEYC strives to raise the quality of education for all children from birth through age eight. And, NAEYC provides accredidation for programs that offer the best learning experiences for young children and their educators by meeting national standards of quality. This site will you to look for an NAEYC accredited center/program and learn more about what it means to be NAEYC accredited. All three childcare centers on or adjacent to the UK campus are NAEYC accredited.
