The Office of Work-Life will present the annual retirement planning conference for UK Faculty & Staff on Friday, October 31. This popular conference will include presentations on UK Retirement Benefits, Social Security, and specially-themed workshops, keynote addresses, and panel discussions. Thinking about retirement? In the process of retiring? We have the conference for you! Please join us for our annual Making the Most of Your Retirement Conference. This year, we welcome John E. Nelson, author of What Color is Your Parachute? for Retirement as our keynote speaker. Registration is now open and is FREE for all UK faculty and staff.


Registration has now closed for "Making the Most of Your Retirement" on Friday, October 31 and for "Purposeful Retirement: Planning Your Next Stage of Life" on Saturday, November 1. 


Donations to Big Blue Pantry
We are also encouraging attendees to the "Making the Most of Your Retirement" conference on October 31 to make a donation to the Big Blue Pantry, a food pantry benefitting UK students. Parking Information
Those attending the "Making the Most of Your Retirement" conference on October 31 are encouraged to park in parking structure #5 located at 409 South Limestone. The garage is accessible from South Upper Street as well as South Limestone. If you do not have an 'E' parking pass, you will need to take a ticket as you enter the garage. Parking fees are paid using three ATM-style central cashier stations, located in Stairwell A on levels 1 and 3. To access the Student Center, use the pedway located on the third floor of the garage. The conference is located in the Student Center Grand Ballroom on the third floor. If you have any questions about parking, please contact Lisa R. Meals: Lunch is provided around 11:30 a.m.

Emerging research shows the importance of addressing the social and psychological aspects of retirement as well as financial security. This seminar will help you employee new concepts and practical approaches. You'll identify sources of meaning and purpose for your next stage of life, and learn how to stay engaged and connected after you retire. You'll also explore new approaches to your health and medical care, and understand the financial connections to happiness. 

After participating in this program, you will be able to:
  • Understand the elements of well-being in retirement.
  • Develop goals and objectives based on your personal values.
  • Identify action steps to take for creating the life you want to live. 
Parking Information
Attendees are encouraged to park in the UK Healthcare Parking Garage (PS #8) located at 110 Transcript Avenue (at the corner of S. Limestone and Transcript Avenue). Please contact Erika Chambers at if you do not have an 'E' parking pass and will need validated parking that day. 

Directions from Parking Structure to Event
To access the Charles T. Wethington, Jr. Building from parking structure #8, please use the crosswalk to cross Limestone Avenue (see map for location information). The Wethington Building will be on your left. Please follow retirement conference signs to the entrance of the Commons Room.
