Education Abroad

Jillian Madden

My name is Jillian and I am a senior majoring in International Studies, focusing on Asian culture and arts. In the fall of 2015 I studied abroad at Akita International University in Akita, Japan. While I was there I practiced my Japanese and studied Japanese history and culture. Along the way I got stranded in a bullet train station, ate sushi from a conveyor belt, and unintentionally performed a traditional Japanese dance in front of a bunch of strangers. Feel free to come by or send an email if you've got any questions!

She studied International Marketing and Economics in Berlin, Germany during summer 2016, and studied the Bologna Process and higher education in Italy with the UK Honors Program during summer 2014. Brooke traveled regularly during her weekends abroad and has visited 8 countries in total.

Atlanta Hayden

Atlanta Hayden is a junior Elementary Education major. Alongside two UK faculty members, she was able to visit China, the ceramics capital of the world. With the help of the study abroad office, fundraising, and working she was able to cover the expenses of such a wonderful trip. She aspires to return to China to teach the English language.

Samuel Cardine II

Samuel is graduating in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrated Strategic Communication. In the summer of 2016, Samuel studied abroad in Cape Town, South Africa. This was Samuel's first time studying abroad which was also a life changing adventure for him.

Katie McKinney

Katie received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Spanish with a minor in Economics from Asbury College. Between her junior and senior years, Katie spent a summer in Spain studying at the University of Salamanca. She worked as an accountant for a couple of years after graduation, but decided she needed something else to do and came to the Patterson School to complete her Master’s in Diplomacy and International Commerce. While at Patterson, Katie focused on International Development and International Economics.
