Exchange Students


The University of Kentucky welcomes exchange students from our partner institutions.  We help students make the most of their visit by introducing them to campus life through K Week International, which includes a check-in workshop, orientations, advising conferences, and social events. Following K Week International is the university-wide K Week, which includes nine days of academic, social, and community-building activities, events, and programs.

English Proficiency Requirements:
Undergraduate: TOEFL®  527 (197 CBT, 71 iBT)  /   IELTS  6.0                            
Graduate: TOEFL®  550 (213 CBT, 79 iBT) /   IELTS  6.5

Pre-session intensive English is available (not included in exchange benefits).

*Please note that fees are subject to change without notice. Some programs also require non-exchange related fees.

Undergraduate Admissions Requirements

  • The International Application for Undergraduate Admissions (there is no application fee for non-degree seeking exchange students).
  • A high quality color scan of your Passport photograph/Identification page.
  • An unofficial transcript from your home institution
  • An official bank statement showing an available balance of $6,400 per semester in order to obtain your DS-2019 immigration document (fees subject to change) OR The Sponsor Guarantee Form for Exchange.
  • Proof of English proficiency (see above under eligibility).
  • Mail all materials to:

ISEP (International Student Exchange Program) Exchange Students
Inbound students pay tuition to their home institutions.  ISEP provides assistance with immigration and visa support documentation. All other exchange students receive support from UK Admissions.

International Student Health Insurance Plan
If you are an exchange student, you are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan when you register for classes. You do not need to fill out any forms to enroll in the student insurance plan. Click here for more information about health insurace requirements for international students.
