2015 Kentucky K-12 Level Chinese Proficiency Competition

The University of Kentucky Confucius Institute is excited to announce our upcoming Chinese language competition for Kentucky Elementary, Middle, and High School students. Students will compete in two categories: speech & cultural performance.
 
Please encourage students to participate in this exciting opportunity to showcase their skills and win prizes!
 
Competition Guidelines

Speeches

  • Maximum 3 minutes
  • 80% of total score
  • Students may choose any topic “Fun with Chinese Language and Culture”

Cultural performances

  • Maximum 3 minutes
  • 20% of total score
  • Performed by one or more team members
  • Cultural demonstration of any kind, including dance, martial arts, humor, poetry recitation, skit, song, & instrumental music

Applicants will be divided into Heritage Speaker and Non-Heritage Speaker categories. Candidates will then be assigned a group according to the number of participants and student grade level.
 
Microphones, computer plug-ins, and a projector will be provided. Please bring USB drives, if needed.
 
Prizes

1st Place: $100 Gift Card         Ÿ         
2nd Place: $50 Gift Card          Ÿ         
3rd Place: $30 Gift Card
