2015 Kentucky K-12 Level Chinese Proficiency Competition

The University of Kentucky Confucius Institute is excited to announce our upcoming Chinese language competition for Kentucky Elementary, Middle, and High School students. Students will compete in two categories: speech & cultural performance.
Please encourage students to participate in this exciting opportunity to showcase their skills and win prizes!
Maximum 3 minutes
80% of total score
Students may choose any topic “Fun with Chinese Language and Culture”
Maximum 3 minutes
20% of total score
Performed by one or more team members
Cultural demonstration of any kind, including dance, martial arts, humor, poetry recitation, skit, song, & instrumental music
Applicants will be divided into Heritage Speaker and Non-Heritage Speaker categories. Candidates will then be assigned a group according to the number of participants and student grade level.
Microphones, computer plug-ins, and a projector will be provided. Please bring USB drives, if needed.
1st Place: $100 Gift Card
2nd Place: $50 Gift Card
3rd Place: $30 Gift Card

Click here for a street map. It's not marked on the map, but there is an employee lot behind the library that is free and open to the public on weekends. The entrance to the lot is on Columbia Avenue on the North side of the library. Upon entering, you may only park in the larger lot to the left. You will be ticketed if you park on the lot to the right.
You may also park in the Rose Street Garage next to the library. Access to the garage is from Hilltop Avenue, not Rose St. Click here for a map.
