In 2011, UK partnered with the Oman Cultural Office to enroll students sponsored by the Omani government. They first study intensive English and then move into UK degree programs. Approximately 30 students have enrolled in each of the last three years. In 2012, the Cultural Office asked UK to host a visit by Mahamood Al Kindi, the Head of the International Relations Division at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). He met with staff from UKIC, and faculty members and administrators from several colleges.
SQU consists of colleges of medicine, engineering, agriculture, education, science, arts, commerce and economics, law, and nursing. It enrolls approximately 15,000 students. SQU also operates nine research centers, in marine biotechnology, communication and information research, earthquake monitoring, environmental studies, oil and gas, Omani studies, remote sensing and GIS, water, and the humanities.
UK negotiated a clinical site rotation for fourth-year medical students in 2013.
