
Registration for the YCT Test in 2013
As a testing center for the new YCT (Youth Chinese Test) launched by Hanban, the Confucius Institute at the University of Kentucky (UKCI) held the center's first YCT Level I and Level II on Nov. 10, 2012.

Information on YCT (Youth Chinese Test)
UKCI will conduct the New HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) (Levels I and II) and HSK oral test on Oct. 21, 2012 and New YCT (Youth Chinese Test) (Levels I and II) on Nov. 10. Registration for taking the New HSK at this center will start on Aug. 25 and end on Sept. 24. Registration for taking the New YCT at this center will start on Sept. 15 and end on Oct. 14.
YCT is a standardized international Chinese language examination designed for elementary, middle and high school students whose native language is not Chinese. It assesses their proficiency in using the Chinese language in daily and academic environments. YCT consists of a written test and an oral test. The written test is divided into four levels-- YCT Level I, YCT Level II, YCT Level III, and YCT Level IV. The oral test is divided into YCT Beginner Level and YCT Intermediate Level.
Information on YCT Levels (Written test)
YCT- Level I
Test takers who are able to pass the YCT(Level I)can understand and use some of the most common Chinese phrases and sentences and possess the ability to future their Chinese language studies.Vocabulary:80
YCT- Level II
Test takers who are able to pass the YCT(Level II)can understand and use some simple Chinese phrases and sentences and cope with basic level communications.Vocabulary:150
YCT- Level III
Test takers who are able to pass the YCT(Level III), having reached an excellent level in basic Chinese, can communicate on familiar daily topics in a simple manner.Vocabulary:300
YCT- Level IV
Test takers who are able to pass the YCT(Level II)can communicate in Chinese at a basic level in their daily, academic and professional lives. When travelling in China, they can manage most forms of communication in Chinese.
