ON-CAMPUS DATES: MAY 13 - 17 • TRAVEL DATES: MAY 19 - JUNE 3
This studio course will focus on figure drawing and painting while studying the art techniques of Edgar Degas, Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso, among others. Participants will work toward emulating the work of these modern masters in their drawings and paintings. Completed artworks will be displayed in an exhibition on the University of Kentucky campus upon participants’ return.
- Enhance understanding of art history, drawing, and painting through observation and analysis
of original work by modern masters of painting
- Enrich drawing and painting techniques both outdoors and in museums by observing and
emulating the techniques of selected artists
- Visit Arles, the town where van Gogh lived and worked, and Chateau Grimaldi, the home
of Pablo Picasso
- Spend several days in Paris exploring museums such as the Louvre and the Picasso Museum
Open to undergraduate and graduate students from ALL academic disciplines.
UK Sponsored programs are conducted by University of Kentucky faculty. UK credits and grades will be awarded by the program director for the successful and timely completion of all required program activities and assignments, including any required on-campus meetings. Students will earn:
